The first mariners'compass and the important medieval Maritime Code both came as a resultof the area's fine seamanship.The nearest international airport is Capodichino, just four miles north east of Naplescity centre. The airport handles over five million passengers a year and is run byGesac, a subsidiary of the British Airports Authority.
