Alykanas is a small family resort on the east coast of Zakynthos and is some 15 k ms north of Zakynthos town. It also has a small boat marina with moorings and there is a new purpose built marina further down the coast. Gerakario is a good centre for a number of leisure pursuits including walking, cycling, painting, photography, bird watching and horse riding, as well as sailing and water sports which are available on the coast. There are stables with horses available, within the village. The coastal and mountain scenery to the north of Alykes is spectacular and the region is completely unspoilt.
